Position Overview

My client is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to manage the estimation of electrical systems for various commercial, residential, and industrial construction projects in Austin. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical estimating, with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of electrical systems, codes, and industry standards. The Electrical Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure accurate and competitive bids for upcoming projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed and accurate electrical estimates for a wide range of commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
• Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine the scope of electrical work.
• Work closely with project managers and engineers to develop bid proposals that meet client specifications and budgets.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and labor.
• Ensure all estimates are in compliance with local codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
• Perform take-offs from blueprints and other project documents to calculate labor, material, and equipment costs.
• Maintain and update cost databases for materials and labor.
• Assist with the preparation of project schedules and timelines, factoring in electrical work.
• Collaborate with the project team to identify potential risks and suggest cost-effective solutions.
• Stay current on industry trends, technological advancements, and market conditions to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as an electrical estimator in the construction industry (preferably with a top electrical contractor).
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction processes, and local codes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical materials, equipment, and installation methods.
• Proficient in estimation software and tools (e.g., Accubid, Estimating Software).
• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of local electrical codes, safety regulations, and permitting processes in Austin.
• Experience with cost analysis, budgeting, and project scheduling.
• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is a plus.
