The Physical Security Manager is responsible for the overall protection of associates, clients, visitors, and organizational assets at First Financial and its affiliates. In this role, you will oversee the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of security policies, programs and technologies.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and update security-related policies, procedures, job aids, and other documentation in line with applicable regulations and practices.
Partner with various departments and business lines to integrate security considerations into operations and projects.
Design and deliver security awareness training, regular communications, and protocols for associates, contractors, and visitors.
Work closely with Facilities and project teams to ensure that new constructions, remodels, or building refreshes meet established physical security standards.
Establish and track KPIs, provide regular status updates and reports and communicate/escalate concerns to senior management on security performance.
Manage all electronic security solutions - access control systems, badge systems, surveillance cameras, key management, alarm systems - to safeguard people and property.
Perform continuous monitoring and periodic testing to confirm that all systems function effectively and remain up to date.
Maintain accurate records of physical key inventories and digital credentials, ensuring strict adherence to access control protocols
Oversee external vendors and service providers, including contract negotiation, performance and risk reviews, and timely invoice approvals.
Deploy third-party service providers to at-risk bank properties and associates requiring executive protection services.
Develop and manage the physical security budget, including forecasting and tracking expenses.
Adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities as the security landscape evolves.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Five (5) years of supervisory experience in Physical Security or law enforcement related work
experience.
• Strong background in electronic security systems (e.g., fire alarms, access control, video
surveillance) and related hardware/software.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office productivity software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Exceptional communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal abilities.
• Proven track record in vendor management and contract negotiations.
• Ability to analyze metrics, identify gaps, and implement process improvements.
• Effective leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly to unexpected situations.
Preferred Knowledge ad Skills:
• Bachelor's degree
• Familiarity with door hardware, key systems, and building codes.
• Experience with installing and configuring security equipment.
• Knowledge of facility systems (elevators, fire alarms, etc.).
• Experience working with Lenel physical access control systems and Bosch control panels/keypads.
Level of Complexity and Scope:
• Process the most complex physical security requests and resolve very difficult issues as needed
• Remain current on available security technologies, product and existing security equipment life cycles
• Routinely assess the security program to ensure it is in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies and minimizes risks.
Degree of Independence and Decision-Making:
• Collaborates with senior roles
• Uses subject matter expertise to advise others
• Receives minimal guidance
Required Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provide guidance and oversight to physical security team and specialized contractors.
Manage external vendors and installation teams, ensuring quality service delivery.
Lead or participate in specialized project teams focused on security enhancements or expansions.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to move security equipment in security storage areas.
• Occasionally lifts and carries up to 30 lbs.
• Occasionally sits, stands, walks and drives.
